Guajira's Farm Sales Policy

Here at Guajira's Farm we take pride in the animals that we raise. It is a complete family affair in daily chores and welcoming new kid goats into the world. Our children spend a lot of time with goat kids, taming them and getting them used to handling. They develop a bond with us, and if treated correctly will bond with their new handlers. We value our goats and care where they go and how they end up being treated. Our goats are also raised with Livestock Guardian Dogs, so they are not afraid of K9's. Because of this, It is very important that their new home protect them from K9 predators. We prefer their new homes have an LGD, but understand that may not be feasible for some. They must go to a home with proper fencing, shelter and protection from predators, both domestic and wild. 

• Full payment is required 10 business days before picking up one of our goats. We accept Zelle or Cashiers Check payable to Cristina Wiegert with no fee. Or Paypal, Venmo with buyer paying the fees.
• A 125$ non-refundable deposit is required to reserve a goat. 
• An ADGA Bill of Sale is to be provided for every goat purchased that is registered with the American Dairy Goat Asocciation. A Livestock Bill of Sale will be provided for all others.
• Buyer is responsible for all transport fees and New Mexico Brand Inspection fees.
  • Nubian goats transported out of state will need a Vet Inspection/Certificate & a Brand Inspection/Certificate in order to be transported across state lines. Currently, the vet inspection cost is $70.00 and the brand inspection cost is $11.00. Both inspection fees are the responsibility of the buyer. Nubian Goat Kids registration & transfer fees are the responsibility of the buyer. These fees are required one month prior to pick up and transport. 
• We do not sell Nubian bottle raised kids, but do sell Boer goat bottle raised kids.
• We do not sell our goats to inexperienced goat owners, making exceptions if we feel the person or family is truly commited, including offering mentorship. Dairy goats in particular are a huge commitment and require more upkeep and hands on care. If purchasing a dairy doe in milk without her kids, she will require daily milking in order to keep her udder healthy. Be it rain or shine, snow or sleet, that doe needs to be milked. If you cannot commit to this, do not purchase a dairy goat. 
• Goats are herd animals. We will not sell to homes that do not have any other goats. They must live in pairs, minimum.
• If for any reason we feel that a buyer is not compatible with our goats we reserve the right to cancel the sale or offer another option. If for any reason we feel that a buyer will not be happy with the animal they chose, we reserve the right to cancel the sale. Goats are not perfect. They are living, breathing, sentient beings who mourn the loss of the home they were raised in. A goat could become skittish and unruly in its new home due to differing management or a person unwilling to be patient with them. It takes many months for some goats to acclimate. If you cannot understand that, this is not the farm to purchase a goat from. I will write a blog post on this as I have experience in taming goats that were extremely skittish of us when they first arrived. Its just a part of raising goats! 
• For biosecurity reasons, we do not accept the return of a goat. We reserve the right to choose the situation in which we would accept a return. Once the goat leaves our property, it can no longer be returned. We guarantee the health of the animal on our property, providing a clean bill of health, and mentorship if the goat falls ill. We are not responsible for illnesses, injury, or death once they leave our farm. Again, goats are finicky animals, change can stress them to the point of making them sick. Providing them with the same feed and care is paramount to their health and adjustment of new environment. 
• Currently, our farm does not vaccinate our goats. A choice we've made to manage our herd as natural as possible. This management practice could change in the future. Buyer is free to vaccinate when animal arrives to their farm. 
• Our farm is still new and we are starting yearly testing for CAE and Johne's. CL testing is to be done when goats display symptoms, of which we have not had a case. The reason we do not want to test for CL, is because we have goats that have been vaccinated for this at their previous homes, that will produce a positive result.
• Health test results will be shared with potential buyers at their request.
